Claudio Abbado (born June 26, 1933) is an italian conductor. He has served as music director of the La Scala opera house in Milan, principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, principal guest conductor of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, music director of the Vienna State Opera, and, most recently, principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra from 1989 to 2002, when he retired from the position for health reasons.

Lang Lang (born June 14, 1982 in China) Heralded as the “hottest artist on the classical music planet” by the New York Times, 27-year-old Lang Lang has played sold out recitals and concerts in every major city in the world and is the first Chinese pianist to be engaged by the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic and the top American orchestras.

Sir Simon Rattle (born 19 January 1955) is an English conductor. He rose to international prominence as conductor of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and since 2002 has been principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic (BPO). Rattle has conducted a wide variety of music, including some with period instruments but he is best known for his interpretations of late-19th and early 20th century composers such as Gustav Mahler.

Renée Fleming (born February 14, 1959) is an American soprano specializing in opera. Fleming has a full lyric soprano voice. Fleming has performed coloratura, lyric, and lighter spinto soprano repertoires. She has sung roles in Italian, German, French, Czech, and Russian, aside from her native English.

Riccardo Muti (born July 28, 1941) is an Italian conductor. In May 2008 he was appointed the 10th music director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, effective with the 2010-11 season. Muti is considered one of the world's greatest conductors of the operas of Giuseppe Verdi. In 1992, Muti conducted performances of Ruggero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci with Luciano Pavarotti.

Hélène Grimaud (born November 7, 1969) is a French pianist. A lyrico-dramatic performer, Hélène Grimaud disarms audiences before winning them over with her command of classical and romantic piano works, particularly by Austro-German composers.

Thomas Quasthoff (born November 9, 1959) is a German bass-baritone generally regarded as one of the finest singers of his generation. Although his reputation was initially based on his performance of Romantic lieder, Quasthoff has proven to have a remarkable range from the Baroque cantatas of Bach to solo jazz improvisations.

Annette Dasch (born 24 March 1976 in Berlin) is a German soprano. She performs in operas and concerts. Since then Annette Dasch has sang at the Deutschen Staatsoper Berlin, the Opéra National de Paris, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées Paris, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Bruxelles or the New National Theatre Tokyo, and at the Salzburg Easter Festival and much more.

Violeta Urmana (born in 1961 in Lithuania) is now recognised as one of the leading sopranos in the Italian dramatic genre and has played such roles as Aida, Amelia, Elisabetta, Gioconda, Leonora, Tosca and Norma. First acknowledged as a mezzo-soprano, Violeta Urmana became world famous for her interpretation of roles such as Kundry in Wagner's Parsifal and Eboli in Verdi's Don Carlo.

Kent Nagano (born November 22, 1951) is an American conductor and opera administrator. He is currently the music director of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and the Bavarian State Opera. 

 

Riccardo Chailly (born 20 February 1953) is an Italian conductor. He started his career as an opera conductor and gradually extended his repertoire to encompass symphonic music. Riccardo Chailly is a dynamic, and sometimes controversial, conductor known for his devotion to contemporary music, and for his attempts to modernize approaches to the traditional symphonic repertory.
